Cross-Ice Hockey
The U7 Timbits Program plays games via Cross-Ice Hockey. Cross-Ice Hockey places an emphasis on fun while spending time on development. At this age group, there will be more opportunity for all players to handle the puck and learn to skate. During game slots, Coaches will lead their teams in one-hour sessions, splitting the time on:
- - Organized OMHA lesson plans for stick/puck/skating development
- - Semi-formal cross ice hockey games
Hockey Canada developed the Initiation Program to make children's first contact with hockey a safe and positive experience. It's a structured, learn to play hockey program designed to introduce beginners to the game's basic skills. The benefits of the new U7 program include fun for all participants, age appropriate skill development, more puck touches, maximum ice usage and increased competition for all players.
