As many of our hockey community members know, one of our U18AA players tragically passed away this past June. Brian Renaud played on our U18AA team and his father Paul remains as the head coach. Brian was heavily involved in the association as a timekeeper, on-ice instructor in both our Saturday and Sunday hockey school programs (teaching young players how to skate and play hockey), and helped out in the office for tryouts and special events. He was always willing to assist where needed.
In honor of Brian, and creating awareness around mental health, the APMHA will be hosting a “Remembering Brian” Day on January 7th where there will be a special game vs Kingston. We hope APMHA members will attend the game in support of the family. There is nothing like the hockey community, so we can wrap our arms around the family by showing support.
To kick things off, we have created a special wristband. All proceeds will be donated to several Mental Health organizations that provide front line support to youth. Any questions regarding the event please contact Leo Nat via email - [email protected]
Thank you to the following donors for their generous support towards mental health in young athletes - thank you!!
