AP RAIDERS U13AA (25/26) - COACH PROFILE & TEAM INFORMATION
HEAD COACH - BRETT GIGLIO
I am a parent coach that has been coaching in the Pickering/APR organization since the 2021-22 season, with the 23-24 and 24-25 seasons holding a Head Coach position. I played my way through the Pickering Hockey Association as a minor hockey player from B to AA and moved on to the AAA level with Ajax-Pickering, Vaughan Kings, Toronto Young Nationals, and the Don Mills Flyers for my later minor hockey years. My minor hockey experience culminated in a trip to the all Canadian Finals in my last season of minor hockey.
My playing years being cut short by injury, I became involved in player development with Larry Marson starting in 1999 to present and have had the pleasure of working with players that have gone on to the NHL and Canadian National Women's hockey program. Currently I am a part of the Ajax-Pickering Minor Hockey development team, under Larry Marson, working with teams at all levels on a weekly basis.
Beyond the winter season, I am involved with a local development and spring program year round as an instructor/coach.
MY PROGRAM
My program is geared towards a multi-tiered development strategy around skills, systems, and overall character development that goes beyond the rink. The focus is on creating high tempo practices and development sessions that challenge the players to realize their true potential and be confident in their ability to grow. There is emphasis on ensuring maximum participation of all players to create a high level of engagement and focus during practices and development sessions. There is a practical application to all of the practices that are evident during game situations for the teams that I coach. The objective among the players and coaches within the programs that I run is that we can achieve successful results against any opponent with the right preparation, attitude, and focus on the process of improving individually and as a team. Goalie development is outsourced.
On a yearly basis my teams give back to the community around the holiday season. During the 2023-24 season we sponsored a family for Christmas providing gifts for the children and mother of a single parent family. In 2024-25 we sponsored multiple seniors for Christmas providing gifts from the players on the team. During both of these seasons the players were involved in shopping for the gifts.
