AP RAIDERS U13B (25/26) - COACH PROFILE & TEAM INFORMATION
HEAD COACH - SHANE HUTLEY
My name is Shane and I have been selected to be the U13B head coach for the upcoming 2025-26 hockey season. I am a dad to three boys, who range in age from 2012 to 2016, who all play in APMHA. With years of experience both playing hockey and coaching, I understand how crucial it is to gain the trust of the team. My goal is always to help the kids develop into amazing people, both on and off the ice. I believe in taking a fair and balanced approach when coaching athletes. That is why I will be asking for open communication between myself, the players, the team staff, and the parent community. Together, we will have a great season filled with lots of growth, fun, and, of course, some hockey wins along the way!
PLAYING HISTORY
During my playing history, my position was goaltender and from the ages of 4-16 years old I played in both Scarborough and Pickering. At 17 years old, I played 1 year for the Stouffville Clippers in the PJHL. I then continued to play 2 seasons for Sir Sandford Fleming College in the OCAA. I still play occasionally with my kids or a late-night shinny. As a parent coach, my position, playing history and coaching experience all contribute to a knowledge of the game that will allow me to develop individual players and the U13B team throughout the season.
SEASON PLAN
Off season: my pre-season plan is to keep players busy and engaged with dryland training and team building.
Pre season: I am planning on a pre-season tournament to help bring the kids together before the regular season.
In season: players and families can anticipate 100+ hours of ice (including games and practices), training, and other activities. I also plan to take advantage of the APMHA Representative development program and pick up additional ice times that are provided by the APMHA. I plan on entering 4 tournaments during the season: 1 pre-season, 1 international (Buffalo) and 2 local.
ICE TIME
Our team will be on the ice approximately 3-4 times per week. APR makes it easy for families by providing prime time ice times to our teams. We currently use 3 facilities in the association with 9 ice pads between them. Our practice and home game schedule is fixed, providing consistency to the season.
DEVELOPMENT
In addition to the rep development program offered by the APMHA, I have planned for player development to be delivered by an outside instructor, used to enhance players' skating and personal skill sets. I also have planned for professional goalie development from a private instructor.

AP RAIDERS ASSOCIATION
Having been a part of the APMHA for over 6 years now, it has allowed me to realize what a great place it is to play. Ice time is always convenient for families and the organization has been nothing but supportive for its players, coaches, managers, & parents. I encourage all others to come out and give APMHA a try. I'm looking forward to a fun season ahead!
