RAIDERS HOCKEY SCHOOL
Our program is aimed at teaching our young players (between the ages of 4-8 years old) the basic hockey techniques and drills that focus on overall skill development. The skills that each player will rely upon each and every season of their hockey career. The program is based on the Canadian Hockey Initiation Program (CHIP) and we utilize the CHIP manuals as our session guide.
Our professional instructors work hard to make it a fun and enjoyable learning experience for all players. The reason we are here is because we enjoy helping the players develop their hockey skills and to prepare them for future seasons of APMHA league play. We believe that developing self-esteem and confidence in a no-pressure environment is fundamental to the learning process.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The APMHA Hockey School incorporates the Initiation Program (CHIP) into the structure of our existing program. The Canadian Hockey Association (CHA) developed this program to make children's first contact with hockey a safe and positive experience. It's a structured, learn to play hockey program designed to introduce beginners to the game's basic skills. It enables participants to become contributing members of a team effort, develop self-confidence, and experience a sense of personal achievement. These goals are achieved in an atmosphere of fun and fair play.
The Initiation Program incorporates the most current and innovative ideas of leading hockey people from across the country. The lesson plans have been tested and proven successful in a wide variety of community settings.
The Goals of the Program are the following:
- To have fun while playing hockey and engaging in physical activity.
- To learn the basic skills required to play the game of hockey.
- To develop an understanding of basic teamwork through participation in a variety of activities and adapted game situations.
- To create and refine basic motor patterns.
- To be introduced to the concepts of cooperation and fair play.
- It is recommended that the child be able to move about the ice unassisted.
