HEAD COACH -BRUCE NOBLE

I’m a Dad of two boys, aged 15 and 17, love to travel, and work as an Environmental Engineer for AECOM Canada. I played competitive hockey and basketball at the university level and have coached minor hockey in the Ajax-Pickering Minor Hockey Association since 2018, including at the U18BB level in 2023/24.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY

Having been a player and a coach, I have learned to highly value the importance of the player experience. This starts with having fun and being able to look back on the season as a positive experience for ALL players. This starts with me as Head Coach setting the example, and expectations from players that we are a Team first and foremost. In addition to making this fun, I value the Team aspect and love seeing growth in players who are becoming young men in this regard. Being able to put the Team first, thinking of your Teammates in how you carry yourself, and finally the social skill of being a contributing member of a Team is a life skill.

We’ll establish our hockey system early, to complement the make-up of our Team, and I expect to compete as we build towards our on-ice success.

MY PROGRAM

In addition to the experienced bench staff, we will bring in Coaching Development specialists for both players and goalies throughout the season. I firmly believe hearing a different voice can be impactful in terms of players uptake on the message we are trying to deliver, and I have no ego about that. We’ll also look for ways the Team can bond of the ice, I have several ideas from prior years and will certainly take input from parents along the way.

ICE TIMES

We’ll be on the ice 3-4 times on average a week and look to supplement that strategically throughout the first half of the season at least. From experience, ice times are generally fixed to specific days and time week over week, to allow for families to plan for other activities for their players or family.

ASSOCIATION

APR is the place to play.

The APMHA has a dedicated Board of Directors and Executive that are all non-parent members, eliminating any perceived conflict of interest or favoritism; their dedication to our MHA is limitless, with no personal gain other than the success of our Association and its players/teams. We have a full administrative staff to support parents and players through all aspects of the season. The APMHA has a solid foundation of continuous and unwavering support for our Coaches, Players and AP Raiders families.
