APR U11AA WIN GOLD!
The U11AA team WINS Gold at the 2025 Halton Hills Best of the Best Tournament.
The U11AA team took home the Gold Medal over the weekend at the 2025 Halton Hills Best of the Best Tournament.
After opening the weekend with a 3-2 victory over Waterloo on Friday, the boys had trouble finding their legs Saturday morning against a determined Mississauga team and lost 3-0.
In a must-win third game of the round-robin, the Raiders made a few lineup changes that paid off instantly with the Raiders jumping out to a 4-1 lead and never looked back. Halton Hills netted a late goal to seal a 4-2 score Raiders advanced the the playoffs on Sunday.
The semis saw the Raiders overwhelm a Pennsylvania team (that finished first in the round robin) en route to a 3-0 win. That win set up a rematch with a surging Waterloo team looking to avenge their only loss of the tournament; a Friday loss to the Raiders.
The Raiders went down early in the final on a mad scramble in front of the net early in the first period. A 5-minute major penalty and another 4-minute double minor meant the Raiders had nearly 9 minutes of penalties to kill.
The nail-biting 9-minute penalty kill was full of blocked shots, big saves and a determined effort by every Raider on the ice.
Once the Raiders were back to even strength with no goals allowed, you could feel the momentum shift.
The onslaught of offense began in the third. First one goal! Then another! And finally, the Raiders put the game out of reach with an emphatic third goal late in the period.
Waterloo added a late goal with their goalie pulled but the Raiders prevailed 3-2 to take home the gold!
Congratulations to the U11AA team.
